I met women who served in the war as ambulance drivers and lookouts reporting where bombs had fallen. The suggestion that they would not have noticed buildings falling down without an airborne bomb is totally ludicrous.

Concerning the attack on Pearl Harbor, there is a ton of intel transmissions from US installations stretching from the Philippines to the Aleutians that were all funneled into VIXPAC HQ in San Francisco that was plotting the location and heading of the Japanese fleet hour by hour once it left the vicinity of their Home Islands that was wrested from obscurity by Robert Stinnett while he was compile his Book, "Day of Deceit". As soon as it was apparent that the attack was a go, Admiral Kimmel dispatched the Aircraft Carriers, the Fast Cruisers, and the Modern Destroyers on "sorties" to ensure they would not be in the harbor when it was attacked. The Japanese sent a group of miniature submarines to the harbor in order to warn the American Officers that the planes had left the aircraft carriers and were en route. When the Opana Radar Station detected the planes, a certain Lieutenant Kermit A Tyler, who had very recently been installed- imagine that!!!- to the post, kept insisting the planes were B-17 Bombers incoming from the coast, and refused to alert either Navy HQ or the Henderson Field Duty Officer. (It was strange, too, that the B-17's were flying across the ocean during night hours. Sounds like my idea of contemplating suicide, considering the state of avionics at that time.) Meanwhile, at Henderson Field, the planes were all neatly parked in rows out in the open so that the Japanese destroyed nearly all of them on the ground within minutes. Imagine that.
Once the dust settled and the smoke cleared, the Japanese had sunk eight obsolete battleships from the post World War I era, along with 15 ancient destroyers and wrecked a few ships in a drydock. But they entirely neglected Tank Farms, Port Cranes, Anchorages, Warehouses, and supply dumps. The facilities themselves were minimally damaged, so that Pearl Harbor could continue to operate as a forward area.
There was supposed to be a follow-up attack, but Admiral Nagumo apparently chickened because he claimed he did not know the locations of two of the American carriers, which had been transmitting in the clear and the Dutch knew precisely where they were. Imagine that.

Why didn’t these ambulance drivers take any photographs of dead civilians? Cameras were everywhere in 1940, but nobody in London took any photos?
